What will you learn?

Before we can name a behaviour we need to GET the behaviour.

  • This course includes teaching permission to pass handler "go on" and work away from handler laterally "AWAY" (on a lead change)

  • Go On and Away are skills that can help with ALL of your course work once you discover where to use them/how to train them.

  • Prompt feed back on your lessons and answers to questions in the course and outside of it.

FAQ

  • What equipment is needed for this course?

2 cones or wings, 1 tunnel, 6 weaves, 4 jumps, 1 contact piece of equipment if possible

  • Can I post video?

Yes! And strongly encouraged to get the most out of this course. Every lesson has a discussion group to post questions/video. You will receive an email with feedback, so no need to check into the classroom to receive/access replies.

  • Will these gamble skills conflict with my handling system?

Every piece of my distance system is explained. The Why and the How. The information we give our dogs is not exclusive. It is inclusive. Verbals are important for distance and the timing of when we speak and what we appear to be doing before we speak is critical for success sending. The Handler's location, pressure and speed will factor into how the dog reacts. It just is not as simple as delivering words, as much as we may wish it was! Understanding how we can set and change a line, should not impact your handling negatively. It most likely will enhance it positively in ALL of your course work.

  • How old does my dog need to be to start Distance work?

Puppies can take this course beginning around 6 months of age. Strongly recommend Ravishing Releases! prior to taking Savage Sends! For a reliable Release for the exercises.

  • How Long is this course?

65 days access. Lessons are posted on a schedule over an 8 week period. It takes practice and time to develop understanding and timing :)

  • Who is this course for?

SEND Like a Savage!

Her strengths as an instructor are in her eye for detail and her ability to guide a handler to the BEST handling choices for their partner. Dogs respond the same way to direction, speed, location to the equipment, shoulders, head and feet. Nicki understands the relationship of how dogs interpret Handler motion to the finest of degrees. She can always enlighten a handler as to why it works and why it doesn’t. Her background is Science and Music. She believes Agility is a natural combination of the two: Moving in rhythm with another species, and training for repeatable behaviour. She has worked with Novice beginners to experienced World Team Members, and has helped many discover what their dogs already knew!
