FAQ

  • Do I need to take Level 1 before taking Level 2?

Ideally, Yes. Level 1 lays important foundation for skills needed at Levels 3 and 4. Skills that take time for the dogs to understand and for you to trust will be understood before distance is added.

  • How much space do I need?

The sequences require approx. 30x40 to set up fully. But they can be reduced easily for smaller spaces by omitting a hoop or two.

  • What equipment is needed?

1 Tunnel (Hoopers tunnels are 3-6' in length). For home use a short agility tunnel will work just fine. 6 Hoops (4 will be doable), 2 barrels, 1 Gate/Panel.

  • Is there a limit to how much video I can post?

No - I encourage regular posting of video and questions!

  • Can I send an e-transfer vs using PayPal?

Yes - if you live in Canada send e-transfers to [email protected]

  • What is the cost of Level 2? How many lessons and how long do I have access to the lessons?

Level 2 contains 5 areas/10 exercises that are delivered on a pre-set schedule over 30 days. The course runs for 60 days and during that time you may post as much video for review as you like. Every lesson has a discussion group for Q&A. Feedback is delivered by the instructor (Nicki Gurr) within 24 hours of posting. The cost of this course is $235.00 Cdn ($175.00 US)

Instructor

Nicki Gurr. BSc, BEd

Nicki has been competing/teaching Agility for 22 years with 9 dogs: 7 Border Collies and 2 Shelties. She has over 20 1st place championships in National Standards and Jumpers events, and has also excelled in distance work (Gamblers) with multiple wins at the National level, with her Shelties and BCs. She has represented Canada 4x. Twice at FCI, twice at WAO. In 2020 she was Coach for Team Canada WAO. She has had success in multiple associations: AAC, CKC, FCI, USDAA, UKI, AKC. Nicki is a Masters Judge with the AAC and UKI and has worked with MANY students world wide online, in seminar and in weekly lessons, with an equally diverse range of dog breeds. Her strengths as an instructor are in her eye for detail and her ability to guide a handler to the BEST handling choices for their partner. Dogs respond the same way to direction, speed, location to the equipment, shoulders, head and feet. Nicki understands the relationship of how dogs interpret Handler motion to the finest of degrees. She can always enlighten a handler as to why it works and why it doesn’t. Her background is Science and Music. She believes Agility is a natural combination of the two: Moving in rhythm with another species, and training for repeatable behaviour. She has worked with Novice beginners to experienced World Team Members, and has helped many discover what their dogs already knew!
